CONCEPT
The 2025 Presidential Inauguration Anniversary also marks the 26th year of diplomatic relations between Palau and Taiwan—an occasion of profound significance and lasting remembrance. This ceremonial paper-cut artwork draws its color palette from the oceanic blue of Palau’s national flag, symbolizing the deep and enduring maritime bond between the two nations. The composition features the portrait of President Surangel Samuel Whipps Jr., interwoven with imagery of the Pristine Paradise Palau net-zero emission vessel and wind energy motifs, representing a shared vision for a sustainable future. Gracefully swimming rays, sharks, and jackfish encircle the scene, embodying Palau’s unwavering commitment to protecting marine ecosystems and advancing ecological sustainability. With the blue sea at heart and enduring friendship as our sail, we voyage forward—together.
